Find answers to common questions about our enrolment process
When should I enrol my child in kindergarten?
At Pygmy Possum Early Learning, we see your child’s journey as a continuous pathway from their early years right through to kindergarten. To ensure your child has a guaranteed place, we encourage families to secure their kindergarten enrolment early, ideally when your child first begins care with us. Depending on availability, we may also be able to welcome children who are joining us specifically for our kindergarten program.
Do you offer tours or orientation before enrolment?
Yes, absolutely. We invite families to book a personalised tour and attend orientation sessions so your child can become familiar with our educators, routines, and learning spaces. These visits help children feel safe, confident, and comfortable before their first day, and give families the chance to ask questions and get to know our centre.

Pygmy Possum Early Learning – Fees & Pricing
Find answers to common questions about Pygmy Possum Early Learning – Fees & Pricing
Understanding Daily Fees
At Pygmy Possum Early Learning, fees are charged per day. If your family is eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), this will be applied to reduce your daily fee. The amount you pay depends on your CCS percentage, activity hours, and individual eligibility.
Applying for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
The CCS is a government payment that helps reduce childcare costs. Your CCS amount is determined by:
-
Family income
-
Activity test hours (work, study, volunteering, job‑seeking)
-
Type of childcare service
-
Your child’s age
Families may receive up to 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight. Until CCS is approved, full fees are payable.
What’s Included in Your Fees
Your daily fee covers everything your child needs for a safe, comfortable, and enriching day, including:
-
Fresh, nutritious meals prepared onsite
-
Nappies, wipes, and hygiene items
-
Engaging learning programs
-
Qualified educators
-
Daily communication and learning updates
Payments & Billing Process
Fees are processed weekly, usually on Thursdays, through our secure payment system. Payments are made from your nominated bank account, and fees must be paid one week in advance to maintain your child’s booking.
Managing Late Payments
If a payment is delayed, we’ll send friendly reminders and work with you to bring your account up to date. We do not charge late fees, and we’re always available to support families with payment concerns.
Payment Plans (If Needed)
If your family is experiencing financial difficulty or special circumstances, please speak with us. We may be able to arrange a payment plan, assessed individually with your family’s wellbeing in mind.
Absences & How They Are Charged
All booked days must be paid for, even if your child is absent due to illness, holidays, or personal reasons. Families receiving CCS must notify the centre of the reason for any absence.
Allowable Absences
CCS covers up to 42 allowable absence days per child each financial year.
Approved Absences
CCS may also apply to absences for:
-
Illness (with medical certificate)
-
Non‑immunisation
-
Rostered days off
-
Rotating shift work
-
Court‑ordered shared care
-
Preschool attendance
-
School closures or pupil‑free days
-
Exceptional circumstances
Public Holidays
Public holidays are charged at the normal daily rate.
Families may still receive CCS for public holidays if they have not exceeded their allowable absence limit.
Funded Kindergarten in Victoria
Funded kindergarten helps reduce the cost of 3‑year‑old and 4‑year‑old kindergarten programs. The Victorian Government covers a large portion of the program fees, allowing children to access up to 15 hours per week with a qualified early childhood teacher.
Some families may pay little or no cost if their child:
-
Is Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
-
Is a triplet or quadruplet
-
Holds a Health Care Card
-
Has an eligible concession card
-
Holds a refugee, humanitarian, or asylum seeker visa
Families may also receive CCS on top of funded kindergarten, depending on eligibility.
We encourage families to discuss funding options with us during enrolment.
